Listed here is a database of all playable races in Vector Terra, as well as their original name and the book/page they appear in.

Android (Warforged) (Eberron Player’s Guide, page 32)
-----------
Androids are man-made constructs, looking, sounding, even acting like humans. They have a layer of fake, human-like flesh over their mechanical bits. They can mimic a human almost perfectly, and are able to attach components for various effects.

Any feats that have warforged as a prerequisite may be used for androids. Any powers, race/class features, and feats that effect warforged effect androids. Androids may use warforged components.

Draconian (Dragonborn) (Player’s Handbook, page 34; Essentials: Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, page 240)
----------------
Draconians are dragon-like humanoids, hailing from the country Draconia, located on the planet Animatros. Their homeworld is not technologically advanced, however, after coming into contact with humans, some have chosen to live amongst them on the space colonies and have gradually adapted to technology.

Any feats that have dragonborn as a prerequisite may be used for draconians. Any powers, race/class features, and feats that effect dragonborn effect draconian.

Daervan (Dwarf) (Player’s Handbook, page 36; Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Lands, page 248)
----------
Daervan are short, but strong humanoids living on the planet Terran. Those that reside on their home world work as miners, digging up precious gems to sell. Their beards are awesome.

Any feats that have dwarf as a prerequisite may be used for daervan. Any powers, race/class features, and feats that effect dwarves effect daervan.

Celestian (Eladrin) (Player’s Handbook, page 38; Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Lands, page 254)
-------------
Celestians hail from a far off planet called Celestia. Their technology is abundant, more so than any other race, and they have a firm grasp on the arcane arts. Many celestians look down on other races, claiming them to be inferior. This especially includes elves, they they feel are merely a “poor man’s” version of themselves.

Any feats that have eladrin as a prerequisite may be used for celestians. Any powers, race/class features, and feats that effect eladrins effect celestians.

Elf (Player’s Handbook, page 40, Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Lands, page 260)
------
Elves are a race that have laid hidden on Earth for ages. It wasn’t until mankind’s 'purge' of technology did they make themselves known. When humans traveled into space, some elves joined them. While elves are not as technologically advanced as humans, their mastery of the arcane and primal arts is far greater.

Half-Elf (Player’s Handbook, page 42, Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Kingdoms, page 252)
-------------
Half-elves are simply a result of human and elven breeding. These became a bit more common while humans and elves began to co-exist.

Halfling (Player’s Handbook, page 44; Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Lands, page 266)
----------
Halflings are a race of shorter humanoids occupying the planet Terran alongside the Daervan. Where as the Daervans occupy the mountains on their home world, the Halflings live within the forests surrounding them. The daervans look upon Halflings as cousins, often poking fun at them for their smaller stature, yet at the same time respect them, due to being able to compensate speed for strength. But any daervan can tell you nine out of ten halflings still can’t hold their ale.

Human (Player’s Handbook, page 46; Essentials: Heroes of the Fallen Lands, page 272; Essentials: Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, page 264)
----------
When earth became overpopulated, humans migrated out into space, creating space colonies that could simulate many aspects of Earth. It was when they entered space they started to meet other races, and began to form alliances with these races. Those that wished to stay on Earth gradually became more attached to the earth, and learned of the powers lying hidden within.

After moving to space, some humans began to develop psychic abilities…

Tiefling (Player’s Handbook, page 48; Essentials: Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, page 270)
----------
Tieflings are the neighbors of celestians, hailing from a planet called Chaos. Tieflings are far more sinister, allying themselves with any forces that would oppose the other races. For the right price, of course. However, some tieflings believe their dark way of life isn’t for them, and will actually go as far as to ally themselves with the tieflings enemies as a way to redeem themselves, but it’s hard to trust them.

Deva (Player’s Handbook 2, page 8 )
------
Devas are cosmic nomads, travelling the cosmos, and banning with other races against the forces of darkness should their assistance be requested. Devas retain a small memory of their past lives, granting them special benefits.

Gnome (Player’s Handbook 2, page 10)
---------
Gnomes are small humanoids who use their size to their advantage. They excel at thievery and stealth, and enjoy playing pranks on other people. Like elves, they have remained hidden on Earth for a long time, though they remained allies of the elves (when not pestering them of course).

Goliath (Player’s Handbook 2, page 12)
---------
Goliaths hail from a far off planet called Gigantos, where many things are far larger than on most planets. While Goliaths are barely taller than the average human, they excel in strength and endurance, often fighting with one another merely to pass the time.

Half-orc (Player’s Handbook 2, page 14; Essentials: Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, page 258)
----------
Half-orcs are the result of humans breeding with orcs in an attempt to create stronger humans. Half-orcs and orcs inhabit the mountains on Earth, and orcs wearing animal furs have mislead humans into believing the existence of certain urban myths…

Ferals (Shifters) (Player’s Handbook 2, page 16)
-------------------
Ferals inhabit a neighboring country to Draconia, Fangria, and have been at war with the draconian for ages. Their technology is slightly more advanced compared to the draconians, but is only used for space travel, combat, and communications. Ferals prefer to live a more primitive life style, using fire pits to cook food and hunting animals with spears for example. Ferals also have the ability to transform into a deadlier form when enough damage is sustained, something that tends to give them an edge against their scaly adversaries should they live through the draconions’ brutal attacks.

Mul (Dark Sun Campaign Setting, page 20)
-----
Muls are the result of daervan breeding with other species. While some choose to stay to work in the mines they originated from, other muls choose to travel with their other parent, taking on their life style instead.

Thri-Kreen (Dark Sun Campaign Setting, page 22)
--------------
Thri-Kreen are insectoid creatues hailing from Arthropa, another country located on Animatros. Thri-Kreen , like draconians, are primitive when it comes to technology, but have branched off into cultures more advanced. They are tribal hunters, living off the land, though they tend to be peaceful to those that wish them no harm.

Changeling (Eberron Player’s Guide, page 28)
----------------
Shape shifters who are spread throughout the galaxy. No one is sure where they came from, not even the changelings themselves. Some say their planet was destroyed and the survivors were spread out. Others say they never had a home planet and started out spread amongst the other races, living among them in disguise.

Neo-Human (Kalashtar) (Eberron Player’s Guide, page 30)
-----------
Neo-humans are the result of mankind moving to space. While many humans remained unchanged, a select few developed greater psychic abilities. Some even boast greater intelligence than the average human, but due to this, some neo-humans may be prone to fits of madness…

While neo-humans have taken an affinity for celestial bodies such as stars and planets, this had lead to grudges against shadar-kai, who have taken a liking to the void itself.

Drow (Forgotten Realms Player’s Guide, page 8; Essentials: Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms, page 246)
-------
Drow are the darker-skinned, moodier cousins of the elves. They also inhabit Earth, but they tend to either live in swamps, caves, or even as far as underground. While they have no quarrel with the elves, they won’t hesitate to kill one should they trespass on their land without good reason.

Genasi (Forgotten Realm Player’s Guide, 10 )
---------
These elemental beings are spread throughout the cosmos, and are created when a star dies. As many as ten genasi are created when this happens, and should one appear on your planet, it usually symbolizes a bad omen.

Githzerai (Player’s Handbook 3, page 8 )
-----------
A race of very intelligent creatures whose technology is on par with the celestians. Githzerai hail from the planet Cerebros, and have developed amazing psychic powers, though they tend to be rather peaceful and easier to get along with then the stuck up celestians.

Minotaur (Player’s Handbook 3, page 10)
----------------------------
Minotaur come from Minos, another country located on Animatros. They are overly violent, almost bloodthirsty. And sometimes they ARE bloodthirsty. Unlike the more honorable draconians, the hornitaurs will use cheap tactics when it seems like they’re going to lose a fight.

Shardmind (Player’s Handbook 3 page 12)
-------------
These intelligent, psychic beings come from a barren stone world called Gran. Originally, the planet was uninhabited, but during a war, a nuclear explosion was set off. Instead of being destroyed, the gems that were formed on this planet grew and gained sentience. Once they made contact with other species, they moved further out into the cosmos, seeking knowledge, as they felt it was the greatest source of power. Shardmind tend to be devoid of emotion most of the time, but when they feel something, it’s exaggerated. When a shardmind is upset, he’ll throw a fit of rage, when happy, a shardmind may run and hug the nearest living person it sees.

Wilden (Player’s Handbook 3, page 14)
---------
Wilden are simply elves who have attained a higher plane of enlightment. By fully becoming one with nature, an elf may become what they call a forest guardian, sworn to protect all of nature, from the tiniest sapling, to the largest creature from any and all threats.

Hyenard (Gnoll) (Dragon 367, page 47)
---------------------
Hyenards are another race hailing from Fangria. While they may appear more laid back than the ferals, they sometimes turn out to be even more savage, which is why some people hire them for assassinations instead.

Shadar-kai (Dragon 372, page 5)
------------------------------
Another form of human created due to exposure to space. Unlike Neo-humans, who have developed their minds, shadar-kai have learned how to travel through the void of space freely at times.

Reaper (Revenant) (Dragon 376, page 34)
------------------------------------------
Reapers are simply undead beings who serve the Raven Queen. They share many traits of their former life, but granted a small taste of the Raven Queen’s powers. While they are free to do as they please, should the Raven Queen give them a task, such as reaping the soul of a living mortal, they must answer the call, or perish.

When filling in your character sheet, if using the actual name given in the books makes it easier for you for any reason (such as remember what powers you take or whatever), feel free to list the book's name on your character sheet. These changes were simply done for flavor and have no impact on gameplay elements.

UPDATE 5/7/2011- With the release of "Player Options: Heroes of Shadow", new races have become available, as noted:

Shade (Player Options: Heroes of Shadow, page 121)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Not to be confused with Shadar-kai, who received their abilities from exposure to space, shades are humans who have attained their shadowy powers through magic rituals, essentially selling their souls for power. They are reborn, becoming a new person with little memory of their past life...

Vryloka (Player Options: Heroes of Shadow, page 126)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Commonly also referred to as dhampir in some circles, vryloka are humans who either go through a ritual to gain the powers of vampires, or are the result of human/vampire relations. They possess many abilities a true vampire would have, but also their need to feed. The hunger, however, is not as demanding. They also have none of the weaknesses of a vampire, for they are both living and undead.
